Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), part of Daimler Trucks, is the first OEM to launch a brand exclusively dedicated to electric trucks and buses – E-Fuso.
MFTBC announced at the Tokyo Motor Show that, through E-Fuso, it plans to electrify its complete range of trucks and buses in the coming years.
Headlining its new line-up is the 23-tonne E-FUSO Vision One concept vehicle, which can be fitted with up to 300kW/h of batteries allowing a maximum range of 350km with an approximate 11-tonne payload – making it perfectly suited to intra-city deliveries.
“Our E-FUSO Vision One is an outlook on a feasible all-electric heavy-duty truck. It underlines our commitment to electrify our complete product range,” said President and CEO of Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation and Head of Daimler Trucks Asia Marc Llistosella.
On the back of growing customer interest, infrastructure development and EV-friendly regulations, the company expects that a series version of the E-Fuso Vision One could be launched in mature markets like Japan and Europe as early as 2021.
MFTCB’s electrification development will be backed by access to Daimler expertise in the fields of battery and charging technology, supporting E-FUSO as the frontrunner in electric trucking.
“FUSO has been a pioneer in the electrification of trucks for many years. Just one month ago we launched our eCanter, the first serial-produced, all-electric light duty truck. In the future, all our electrified vehicles will run under the name of E-FUSO, our new product brand dedicated exclusively to electric trucks and buses,” said Mr Llistosella.
